USS Ainsworth (FF-1090) History
The USS Ainsworth (FF-1090) was a Knox-class frigate of the United States Navy, commissioned on 30 June 1970. Named after Captain William Ainsworth, a naval officer known for his service during World War II, the ship was designed for anti-submarine warfare and escort duties.
Throughout its service, the USS Ainsworth participated in various operations, including NATO exercises and humanitarian missions. The frigate was decommissioned on 30 September 1993 and later struck from the Naval Vessel Register, marking the end of its nearly 23 years of active duty.
