US Customary Units
US Customary Units are a system of measurement commonly used in the United States. This system includes units such as inches, feet, yards, and miles for length; ounces, pounds, and tons for weight; and cups, pints, quarts, and gallons for volume. These units are often used in everyday activities, such as cooking, construction, and travel.
Unlike the metric system, which is based on powers of ten, US Customary Units can be less intuitive due to their varied conversion factors. For example, there are 12 inches in a foot and 3 feet in a yard. Understanding these units is essential for effective communication and practical applications in the US.
