U.S. Southern Command
U.S. Southern Command, often abbreviated as SOUTHCOM, is a major unified command of the United States Armed Forces. It is responsible for military operations, security cooperation, and contingency planning in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Established in 1963, its headquarters is located in Doral, Florida.
SOUTHCOM's primary mission is to enhance regional security and stability through partnerships with nations in its area of responsibility. It works closely with various agencies, including the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, to address challenges such as drug trafficking, humanitarian crises, and natural disasters.
