U-48
U-48 was a German submarine, or U-boat, that operated during World War II. Launched in 1938, it was one of the most successful U-boats of the war, sinking numerous Allied ships. U-48 was part of the Kriegsmarine, the naval force of Nazi Germany, and played a significant role in the Battle of the Atlantic.
The submarine was equipped with torpedoes and had a crew of around 40 men. U-48 completed several patrols in the Atlantic Ocean, contributing to the disruption of Allied supply lines. It was eventually sunk in 1943, marking the end of its operational history.
