Tyrone's Rebellion
Tyrone's Rebellion was an uprising that took place in Ireland from 1594 to 1603. It was led by Hugh O'Neill, the Earl of Tyrone, who sought to resist English rule and assert Irish independence. The rebellion was fueled by grievances over land confiscations and the imposition of English law, which many Irish nobles opposed.
The conflict saw several significant battles, including the Battle of Clontibret and the Battle of Kinsale. Ultimately, the rebellion ended in defeat for O'Neill and his allies, leading to the Flight of the Earls in 1607, which marked a significant decline in Gaelic Irish power in Ireland.
