Types of Verbs
Verbs are essential words in sentences that express actions, states, or occurrences. There are several types of verbs, including action verbs, which show what someone or something does, like "run" or "jump." Another type is linking verbs, such as "is" or "seem," which connect the subject to additional information about it.
Additionally, there are transitive verbs, which require a direct object to complete their meaning, like "kick" in "She kicked the ball." In contrast, intransitive verbs do not need a direct object, as in "He sleeps." Understanding these types helps clarify how verbs function in sentences.
