Types of Screws
Screws come in various types, each designed for specific applications. Common types include wood screws, which have coarse threads for gripping wood, and machine screws, which are used with nuts or tapped holes in metal. Self-tapping screws create their own hole as they are driven in, while sheet metal screws are designed for fastening metal sheets together.
Another category is lag screws, which are heavy-duty fasteners used in wood construction, and deck screws, specifically designed for outdoor decking materials. Drywall screws are used for attaching drywall to framing, featuring a bugle head to prevent tearing the paper.
