Types of Sailing
Sailing can be categorized into several types based on the purpose and conditions. Cruising involves long-distance travel on a sailboat, often for leisure, while racing focuses on speed and competition, typically in organized events. Day sailing is a short, enjoyable outing on the water, while expedition sailing is for adventurous journeys to remote locations.
Another classification is based on the type of sailboat used. Monohulls have a single hull and are popular for both cruising and racing, while multihulls, such as catamarans, offer more stability and space. Dinghies are small boats often used for training and recreational sailing.
