Tybee Island Light
The Tybee Island Light is a historic lighthouse located on Tybee Island, Georgia. Built in 1736, it is one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States. The current structure, completed in 1916, stands 154 feet tall and features a distinctive black and white striped pattern. It has been guiding ships safely along the Savannah River for centuries.
Visitors can climb the 178 steps to the top for stunning views of the island and the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is part of the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum, which includes a keeper's house and other historic buildings, offering insights into maritime history.
