Twenty-First Amendment
The Twenty-First Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified on December 5, 1933. It repealed the Eighteenth Amendment, which had established the prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. This amendment marked the end of a nationwide ban on the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages.
The Twenty-First Amendment is unique because it is the only amendment that has been entirely repealed. It allowed states to regulate alcohol as they saw fit, leading to a significant change in American society and culture, as the consumption of alcohol became legal again after over a decade of prohibition.
