Tupolev Tu-114
The Tupolev Tu-114 is a Soviet long-range turboprop airliner that first flew in 1955. Designed by the Tupolev design bureau, it was based on the military Tupolev Tu-95 bomber. The Tu-114 was notable for its large passenger capacity and impressive range, making it suitable for transcontinental flights.
With a maximum seating capacity of around 220 passengers, the Tu-114 was one of the largest commercial aircraft of its time. It featured four Kuznetsov NK-12 engines, which contributed to its ability to fly long distances efficiently. The aircraft was primarily used by the Soviet airline Aeroflot until the late 1970s.
