Tu-114
The Tu-114 is a Soviet long-range turboprop airliner developed in the late 1950s. It was designed by the Tupolev design bureau and is notable for being one of the largest and fastest propeller-driven aircraft ever built. The Tu-114 could carry up to 220 passengers and was primarily used for international flights, connecting the Soviet Union with various global destinations.
First flown in 1955, the Tu-114 featured advanced technology for its time, including a pressurized cabin and a range of over 5,000 kilometers. It was powered by four KRD-500 engines, allowing it to cruise at speeds comparable to early jet airliners. The aircraft was retired from commercial service in the 1970s but remains a significant part of aviation history.
