Tree Swallow
The Tree Swallow is a small, agile bird known for its striking iridescent blue-green back and white underparts. Measuring about 5.5 to 6.7 inches in length, it has a slender body and long, pointed wings, which make it an excellent flyer. These birds are commonly found near open water, where they hunt for insects in flight.
Tree Swallows are social creatures, often seen in flocks, especially during migration. They build their nests in cavities, such as old woodpecker holes or man-made structures. Their diet primarily consists of flying insects, making them beneficial for controlling pest populations in their habitats.
