Treaty of Münster
The Treaty of Münster was signed in 1648, marking the end of the Thirty Years' War in Europe. This conflict involved many European powers and was primarily fought in the territories of the Holy Roman Empire. The treaty established peace between the Dutch Republic and Spain, recognizing the independence of the Dutch.
In addition to ending hostilities between the Dutch and Spanish, the Treaty of Münster was part of a larger peace agreement known as the Peace of Westphalia. This agreement also addressed various territorial disputes and established principles of state sovereignty, significantly influencing the political landscape of Europe for years to come.
