Trapezium
A trapezium, also known as a trapezoid in some regions, is a four-sided polygon, or quadrilateral, that has at least one pair of parallel sides. The parallel sides are referred to as the bases, while the other two sides are called the legs. Trapeziums can be classified into different types, such as isosceles trapeziums, where the legs are of equal length, and right trapeziums, which have one right angle.
The area of a trapezium can be calculated using the formula: Area = (1/2) × (Base1 + Base2) × Height. This formula highlights the importance of the bases and the height, which is the perpendicular distance between the bases. Trapeziums are commonly found in various fields, including architecture and engineering, due to their unique shape and properties.
