Transylvania Company
The Transylvania Company was a land development organization established in the late 18th century. Founded in 1775 by a group of investors, including the notable explorer Daniel Boone, it aimed to settle and develop lands in what is now the state of Kentucky. The company sought to attract settlers to the region, promoting agriculture and trade.
The company acquired a large tract of land from the Cherokee and Iroquois tribes, but its activities led to conflicts with both Native Americans and colonial authorities. Ultimately, the Transylvania Company's ambitions were curtailed, and it was dissolved in 1780, with its lands becoming part of the newly formed state of Kentucky.
