Transcaucasian SFSR
The Transcaucasian SFSR was a Soviet republic established in 1922, encompassing the territories of present-day Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. It was formed to unify the three regions under a single administrative structure within the Soviet Union, promoting socialist policies and economic cooperation among them.
In 1936, the Transcaucasian SFSR was dissolved, and its territories were reorganized into separate Soviet republics. This change allowed Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to have more autonomy while still being part of the larger Soviet framework. The republic played a significant role in the early years of Soviet governance in the Caucasus region.
