Trans Mountain
The Trans Mountain pipeline is a major oil pipeline in Canada that transports crude oil and refined products from Alberta to British Columbia. It spans approximately 1,150 kilometers and was originally built in 1953. The pipeline is owned by Trans Mountain Corporation, a subsidiary of Canada Development Investment Corporation.
In recent years, the pipeline has been the subject of significant public debate and legal challenges, particularly regarding its expansion project. The expansion aims to increase capacity and improve safety measures, but it has raised concerns about environmental impacts and Indigenous rights, involving various stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and environmental groups.
