Traditional Russian Instruments
Traditional Russian instruments are integral to the country's rich musical heritage. The most notable among them is the balalaika, a three-stringed instrument with a triangular body, known for its distinctive sound. Another important instrument is the domra, a round-bodied string instrument that typically has three or four strings and is played with a plectrum.
The gusli is a type of zither that has been played since ancient times, often accompanying folk songs and storytelling. Additionally, the accordion and bayan, both popular in Russian folk music, add depth and rhythm to performances, showcasing the diversity of traditional Russian music.
