Tosk Dialect
The Tosk dialect is one of the two main dialects of the Albanian language, the other being Gheg. It is primarily spoken in the southern regions of Albania, as well as in parts of Greece and among the Albanian diaspora. Tosk is characterized by its unique phonetic and grammatical features, which distinguish it from Gheg.
Tosk dialect serves as the basis for the standard Albanian language, which was established in the 20th century. This standardization aimed to unify the various dialects of Albanian, facilitating communication and education across the country. The Tosk dialect is also important for preserving the cultural heritage of the Albanian people.
