Topaz, Utah
Topaz, Utah, was a temporary internment camp during World War II, where Japanese Americans were forcibly relocated following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Established in 1942, it housed around 8,000 individuals, primarily from the West Coast. The camp was located in the west desert of Utah, near the town of Delta.
Today, the site of the former Topaz Internment Camp serves as a historical landmark, with a memorial dedicated to the Japanese American experience during the war. The Topaz Museum in Delta provides further insights into the lives of those who were interned and the impact of wartime policies on civil liberties.
