Tony Hillerman
Tony Hillerman was an American author best known for his mystery novels set in the American Southwest. Born on May 27, 1925, in Sacred Heart, Oklahoma, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II before pursuing a career in journalism and writing. His most famous works feature Navajo Tribal Police officers, particularly Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, and explore themes of Native American culture and spirituality.
Hillerman's writing gained widespread acclaim, earning him several awards, including the Edgar Award for Best Novel. His books, such as "Skinwalkers" and "The Blessing Way," have been credited with popularizing the genre of Southwestern mysteries and bringing attention to the rich traditions of the Navajo Nation.
