Tokoname Pottery
Tokoname pottery is a traditional form of Japanese ceramics that originates from the Tokoname region in Aichi Prefecture. Known for its rich red clay, this pottery is characterized by its simple, functional designs and natural glazes. It has been produced for over 1,000 years, making it one of the oldest pottery styles in Japan.
The pottery is often used for making tea utensils, such as kyusu (teapots), and is highly regarded for its ability to enhance the flavor of tea. Tokoname pottery is also recognized for its durability and unique textures, which are achieved through various firing techniques, including the use of wood kilns.
