Toadfish
Toadfish are a group of fish belonging to the family Batrachoididae, commonly found in coastal waters and estuaries. They are known for their distinctive flattened bodies and broad heads, which give them a toad-like appearance. Toadfish are typically bottom-dwellers, often hiding among rocks and vegetation.
These fish are recognized for their unique vocalizations, produced by specialized swim bladders. Toadfish use these sounds for communication, especially during mating. Some species, like the Opsanus tau, are also known for their ability to produce a low-frequency "booming" sound, which can be heard underwater.
