Tinea pellionella
Tinea pellionella, commonly known as the "clothes moth," is a species of moth that primarily feeds on natural fibers such as wool, silk, and fur. The larvae of this moth are responsible for the damage, as they create holes in clothing and textiles while feeding. Adult moths are small, with a wingspan of about 1/2 inch, and are typically brown or gray in color.
These moths are often found in dark, undisturbed areas like closets or attics, where they can lay their eggs on suitable materials. To prevent infestations, it is important to regularly clean and store clothing properly, as well as to monitor for signs of damage.
