Tibetan Calendar
The Tibetan Calendar is a lunisolar calendar used primarily in Tibet and by Tibetan communities around the world. It combines both lunar months and solar years, which means it tracks the phases of the moon while also aligning with the solar year. This calendar is essential for determining important dates in the Buddhist tradition, including festivals and religious observances.
Each year in the Tibetan Calendar is associated with one of the twelve animals from the Chinese Zodiac, along with one of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. The calendar consists of twelve months, with an additional month added every few years to keep it in sync with the solar year.
