Thylacine
The Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian tiger, was a carnivorous marsupial native to Tasmania, Australia, and New Guinea. It had a slender body, a pointed snout, and distinctive stripes across its back, resembling a tiger. The Thylacine was the largest known carnivorous marsupial of modern times, reaching about 4 feet in length.
The species was declared extinct in the 20th century, primarily due to hunting, habitat destruction, and competition with introduced species like dogs. The last known Thylacine died in captivity in 1936, but there have been unconfirmed sightings since then, sparking interest in potential conservation efforts.
