Thoracic Nerves
Thoracic nerves are a set of twelve pairs of spinal nerves that emerge from the thoracic region of the spinal cord. They are numbered T1 to T12 and play a crucial role in transmitting signals between the brain and the upper body, including the chest and abdomen. Each thoracic nerve innervates specific muscles and skin areas, contributing to movement and sensation.
These nerves are part of the peripheral nervous system and are responsible for controlling the muscles of the intercostal muscles and the abdominal wall. They also provide sensory information from the skin of the thorax and abdomen, helping the body respond to various stimuli.
