Thoracic Aorta
The thoracic aorta is the portion of the aorta that runs through the chest cavity. It begins at the heart, specifically from the left ventricle, and extends down to the diaphragm. This major blood vessel is responsible for distributing oxygen-rich blood to the upper body, including the arms, head, and some organs.
As part of the larger aorta, the thoracic aorta branches into several arteries that supply blood to vital areas. It is divided into sections: the ascending aorta, the aortic arch, and the descending thoracic aorta. Proper functioning of the thoracic aorta is crucial for maintaining healthy circulation.
