Thomson's Gazelle
Thomson's Gazelle is a small, graceful antelope found primarily in the grasslands and savannas of East Africa. It is known for its distinctive black stripe along its sides and its light tan coat. Adult Thomson's Gazelles typically weigh between 40 to 60 pounds and stand about 2 to 3 feet tall at the shoulder. They are herbivores, primarily grazing on grasses and leaves.
These gazelles are highly social animals, often seen in groups called herds. They are known for their incredible speed and agility, which help them evade predators like lions and cheetahs. Their unique bounding leap, called stotting, is a display of fitness that can deter predators by showcasing their strength and speed.
