Thomas St. Leger (Governor)
Thomas St. Leger was a British military officer and colonial administrator known for his role as the Governor of the Province of New York from 1760 to 1763. He was appointed during a time of significant change in the American colonies, as tensions between the British government and colonists began to rise. St. Leger's administration focused on maintaining order and managing relations with the Iroquois Confederacy.
In addition to his governorship, St. Leger is often remembered for his involvement in the American Revolutionary War. He played a key role in the British campaign to control the Mohawk Valley in 1777, leading troops during the unsuccessful siege of Fort Stanwix. His military efforts were part of a larger strategy to divide the colonies and secure British dominance in the region.
