Thomas Douglas, 5th Earl of Selkirk
Thomas Douglas, 5th Earl of Selkirk (1771-1820), was a Scottish nobleman known for his efforts in promoting settlement in North America. He is best remembered for establishing the Selkirk Settlement in present-day Manitoba, Canada, which aimed to provide a new home for Scottish immigrants facing hardship.
