Thermophiles
Thermophiles are a type of extremophile microorganism that thrive in high-temperature environments, typically between 45°C and 80°C (113°F to 176°F). They are commonly found in places like hot springs, geothermal vents, and compost heaps. These organisms have adapted to survive and reproduce in conditions that would be lethal to most other life forms.
The enzymes produced by thermophiles are of great interest in biotechnology. They are used in various applications, such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) in molecular biology, where high temperatures are required. Their ability to function at elevated temperatures makes them valuable for industrial processes that require heat stability.
