Thermal Burn
A thermal burn is an injury caused by exposure to heat sources, such as flames, hot liquids, or steam. These burns can damage the skin and underlying tissues, leading to pain, swelling, and redness. The severity of a thermal burn is classified into three degrees: first-degree burns affect only the outer layer of skin, second-degree burns impact deeper layers, and third-degree burns can destroy all layers of skin and may require medical intervention.
Treatment for thermal burns depends on their severity. First-degree burns can often be treated at home with cool water and over-the-counter pain relief. More severe burns, such as those classified as second or third degree, may require professional medical care, including wound cleaning, dressings, and possibly surgery. Proper care is essential to prevent complications like infection and scarring.
