Theatrical Masks
Theatrical masks are specially designed face coverings used in performances to convey emotions, characters, and themes. They have been a part of various cultures, notably in ancient Greek theater, where they helped actors portray different roles and amplify their voices. These masks often feature exaggerated facial expressions to enhance visibility from a distance.
In addition to Greek theater, masks are also prominent in Japanese Noh and Kabuki theater, as well as in Commedia dell'arte, a form of improvisational theater from Italy. Each mask serves a specific purpose, allowing performers to transform into their characters and engage the audience more effectively.
