The Three Wise Men
The Three Wise Men, also known as the Magi, are figures in the Christian tradition who visited the newborn Jesus after his birth. According to the Gospel of Matthew, they came from the East, guided by a bright star, to pay homage and bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. These gifts symbolize Jesus' royal status, divinity, and future suffering.
The Magi are often depicted as three kings, though the Bible does not specify their number. They are celebrated in the Christian holiday of Epiphany, which marks the revelation of Jesus to the Gentiles. Their journey represents the recognition of Jesus' significance beyond the Jewish community.
