The Tenant
"The Tenant" is a psychological horror film directed by Roman Polanski, released in 1976. The story follows Trelkovsky, a shy and introverted man who moves into a Paris apartment previously occupied by a woman who committed suicide. As he settles in, he becomes increasingly paranoid and believes that his neighbors are conspiring against him.
As Trelkovsky's mental state deteriorates, he starts to adopt the identity of the deceased tenant, leading to a disturbing transformation. The film explores themes of isolation, identity, and the impact of urban living on mental health, making it a notable entry in the horror genre.
