The Spoonbridge and Cherry
The Spoonbridge and Cherry is a large public fountain located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Designed by artist Claes Oldenburg and his wife, Coosje van Bruggen, it features a giant spoon that holds a bright red cherry. The fountain is part of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and has become an iconic symbol of the city.
The sculpture was completed in 1988 and measures 51 feet long and 43 feet high. Water flows from the cherry, creating a playful and whimsical effect. The Spoonbridge and Cherry attracts both locals and tourists, making it a popular spot for photography and relaxation.
