The Pop Group
The Pop Group is a British band formed in 1977 in Bristol. Known for their experimental sound, they blend elements of punk, funk, and free jazz. The group is recognized for their politically charged lyrics and innovative approach to music, which set them apart from their contemporaries. Their debut album, Y, released in 1979, is considered a landmark in post-punk music.
The band originally consisted of members Mark Stewart, Garry Alesbrook, Dan Catsis, Bruce Smith, and John Waddington. After disbanding in 1981, they reunited in 2010 and have continued to perform and release new material, maintaining their influence in the music scene.
