The Happy Prince
"The Happy Prince" is a short story by Oscar Wilde about a beautiful statue of a prince adorned with gold and precious stones. The statue stands high above a city, admired by the townspeople for its splendor. However, the prince feels sorrow for the suffering of the poor and wishes to help them.
A swallow passing through the city befriends the statue and learns of its sadness. The prince asks the swallow to take his jewels and gold to the needy. As the swallow helps the prince, both experience the joy of giving, ultimately leading to their own sacrifices for the sake of others.
