The Golden Calf
The Golden Calf is a biblical idol mentioned in the Book of Exodus. While the Israelites were waiting for Moses to return from Mount Sinai, they grew impatient and asked Aaron, Moses' brother, to create a god for them. Aaron fashioned a calf from gold jewelry, and the people began to worship it, declaring it as their god who brought them out of Egypt.
This act of idolatry angered God, who had commanded the Israelites to worship only Him. When Moses descended from the mountain and saw the people worshiping the calf, he shattered the tablets containing the Ten Commandments in his fury. The incident serves as a cautionary tale about faith and obedience.
