The Floating Piers
The Floating Piers is an art installation created by the artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. It was displayed on Lake Iseo in Italy in June 2016. The project consisted of 100,000 yellow, modular floating walkways that connected the islands of the lake to the mainland, allowing visitors to walk on water.
The piers stretched for about 3 kilometers and were designed to be temporary, remaining in place for just 16 days. The installation attracted over a million visitors, who experienced a unique interaction with the landscape, as the walkways gently swayed with the movement of the water.
