The Farmer, the Fox, the Chicken and the Grain
In the classic tale of The Farmer, the Fox, the Chicken, and the Grain, a farmer must transport a fox, a chicken, and a sack of grain across a river. However, he can only take one item at a time in his boat. The challenge arises because if left alone together, the fox will eat the chicken, and the chicken will eat the grain.
To solve this problem, the farmer must carefully plan his trips. He first takes the chicken across the river, then returns alone for the fox. He leaves the fox on the other side while bringing the chicken back. Finally, he takes the grain across and returns for the chicken, ensuring that all items are safely transported without any being eaten.
