The Alamo
The Alamo is a historic site located in San Antonio, Texas. Originally built in the 18th century as a Spanish mission, it became famous for the 1836 battle during the Texas Revolution. A small group of Texan defenders, including notable figures like James Bowie and Davy Crockett, fought against a much larger Mexican army led by General Santa Anna.
The battle lasted 13 days, ending on March 6, 1836, with the fall of the Alamo. Although the defenders were defeated, their bravery inspired many to join the fight for Texas independence. Today, the Alamo is a symbol of resistance and is visited by millions each year.
