Thơ Mới
Thơ Mới, or "New Poetry," emerged in Vietnam during the 1930s as a literary movement that sought to break away from traditional forms of poetry. It emphasized personal expression, emotional depth, and modern themes, reflecting the changing social landscape of the time. Poets like Xuân Diệu and Huy Cận were key figures in this movement, using free verse and innovative imagery to convey their thoughts and feelings.
The movement was a response to the rigid structures of classical Vietnamese poetry, allowing for greater creativity and individuality. Thơ Mới played a significant role in shaping modern Vietnamese literature and continues to influence contemporary poets today.
