Texas State Legislature
The Texas State Legislature is the legislative branch of the state government of Texas. It is a bicameral body, meaning it has two chambers: the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate. The legislature meets biennially, or every two years, to create and pass laws, with sessions lasting up to 140 days.
The Texas House of Representatives consists of 150 members, while the Texas Senate has 31 members. Both chambers are responsible for proposing, debating, and voting on legislation that affects the state. The legislature also plays a key role in the state budget and oversight of state agencies.
