Test Pattern
A "Test Pattern" is a visual image used in television broadcasting to help calibrate equipment and ensure proper signal quality. These patterns often feature geometric shapes and colors, allowing technicians to adjust settings like brightness, contrast, and color balance. Test patterns are typically displayed when a channel is not broadcasting regular programming.
In the early days of television, test patterns were commonly shown during off-air hours. One of the most famous test patterns is the Indian Head Test Pattern, which featured a Native American chief's profile. Today, while less common, test patterns are still used in some contexts, especially for technical testing and troubleshooting.
