Territory of Utah
The Territory of Utah was established on September 9, 1850, as part of the Compromise of 1850. It was created to provide a designated area for the Mormon settlers who migrated to the region seeking religious freedom. The territory originally included parts of present-day Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado.
Utah's capital was initially located in Salt Lake City, which became a central hub for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The territory experienced significant growth and development, particularly in agriculture and mining, before it achieved statehood on January 4, 1896.
