Territorial Government of Hawaii
The Territorial Government of Hawaii was established in 1900 after the United States annexed the Hawaiian Islands in 1898. This government structure allowed for local governance while still being under U.S. control. The territorial legislature consisted of a House of Representatives and a Senate, and the governor was appointed by the President of the United States.
Hawaii remained a territory until it became the 50th state of the United States on August 21, 1959. During its territorial period, the government focused on issues such as land use, education, and infrastructure development, shaping the future of Hawaii as a state.
