Teratoma
A teratoma is a type of tumor that can contain various types of tissues, such as hair, muscle, and even teeth. These tumors often develop in the ovaries, testicles, or along the spine, and can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Teratomas are believed to arise from germ cells, which are the cells that develop into sperm and eggs.
The exact cause of teratomas is not fully understood, but they are thought to result from abnormal cell development during early embryonic growth. Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests like MRI or CT scans, and treatment may include surgical removal of the tumor. Regular monitoring is essential, especially for malignant teratomas.
